In this video SINGLE STOREY EXTENSION #3 DIGGING THE FOOTINGS, daily life continues on this extension build series. John takes you through the next couple of days where we see him sharing the Yanmar vio 17 digger with Tony as they show you how to dig footings. Also things don't go quite to plan when a neighboring tree means they have to dig footings to 2.5m deep as advised by the structural engineer. For safety reasons John explains the use of shuttering plywood and how to strengthen footings using shuttering before the concrete pour for the pillars to hold the concrete lintels. Ollie gets to work on hand digging footings to square them off and Joe is excavating old clay pipes and lead pipes. The guys get on the power tools and use the hammer breaker to break up concrete from the old footings.
