Dexter the Bedlington Terrier has completed his 3 week residential training holiday with us
Dexters family adore him, but as first time owners they were struggling with some behaviours such as pulling on the lead, jumping up, picking rubbish up off the street and getting over excited around dogs and people. His family made a great start with his training in the home, but progress stopped outdoors as he wouldn’t take food treats
Over the past 3 weeks, we’ve worked on building Dexters food drive so that he is happy to work for treats out on walks. This has enabled us to progress his skills out and about in a variety on environments
Dexter is able to walk nicely on the lead in lots of different environments, ignoring rubbish on the streets and walking past dogs and people without leaping to greet them. He can also greet other dogs on cue and come away when called, giving him more freedom on walks
Alongside this, we’ve also worked on his settling skills in a home environment so that he can relax whilst his family are working at home, rather than asking for attention all the time
