More than 1 million Australian women live with type 2 diabetes, and a further 1 million have prediabetes. It is the fastestgrowing chronic condition globally, but there is little information about the unique symptoms, risks and management for women. For example, type 2 diabetes increases the risk of heart disease by about four times in women but only about two times in men, and women have worse outcomes after a heart attack. Women are also at higher risk of other diabetesrelated complications such as blindness, kidney disease, and depression.

So why aren’t we talking about the early warning signs of type 2 diabetes? How can we help women better manage their condition? And, most importantly, how do we help women with prediabetes and type 2 diabetes into remission?

Join leading low carb specialist and women’s health expert Dr Deepa Mahananda as she talks to Defeat Diabetes founder Dr Peter Brukner OAM about the 7 things she wishes her female patients knew about type 2 diabetes.
