Deciding where to apply for a PhD? | Choosing the right PhD programs for applications!

Third in a series about applying to PhD programs! How do you even decide where to apply? This video takes you through decisions like how to pick a PhD discipline (even if you're interdisciplinary!) and subfield, how to find potential PhD advisors / supervisors /PIs, how to find specific PhD programs or departments, and things you should mention in a personal statement or statement of purpose for your application. Plus, how do you pick a university to do your PhD and does prestige matter? How should you think about things like location? And what happens next?! This advice is most relevant for STEM and maybe especially Computer Science PhD programs, but a lot of it is definitely broadly applicable.

I post academic advice videos every FRIDAY! Consider subscribing so that YouTube's algorithm thinks I'm great and will show these videos to more people!
