Douglass goes to his farm to buy new mounts, but finds that the runaways have taken the last of his horses. He leaves Josefa with his daughter. Douglass walks into a bar in a town just across the Mexican border and finds Zachary. The outlaw claims that he does not recognize the woman in the picture Douglass showed him and shouts for him to release her. Douglass draws his gun, Zachary draws his own gun, and Douglass shoots him dead.
