Aloha, This video was made with he help of Chauncey Paulos, big shout out my friend from the island of Oahu, Hawaii. Also Dyno Don .com
Dyno Don is a Drag Racer from the 60s, initially raced for Chevrolet , but later switched to Ford in the mid 60s. He raced super stock, was one of the early Funny Car Pioneers. But he switched to Pro Stock cars, as he felt the Funny Cars were getting too dangerous. In 1978, he crashed his Mustang II, in Alabama, while racing Grump Jenkins, and had to repurchase his previous 1977 Mustang II to fulfill his racing contracts. It was at that time he decided to have Don hardy, build him a 1979 Ford Fairmont Futura. He raced his 1979 Ford Fairmont Futura in NHRA Pro Stock, IHRA, and Match Racing. They say he had more match races than most, and made more money Match Racing.

He picked up the 1979 Ford Fairmont July 7, 1978. Right off the trailer the 79 Ford Fairmont ran and 8.68 @ 154mph. Throughout the mid 70s Jon Kaase was his Crew Chief, and right hand man, built his engines, which included Ford 351 Clevelands, usually destroked, (341ci) to take allow for a lighter car, since they raced .lbs/cubic inch. Jon Kaase also built his Big Block Ford match race engines. We all know where Jon is today....Building the baddest Big Block Fords around. See the 516 Match Race Engine build in the video.

The 1979 Ford Fairmont was raced maybe 6 or7 times in NHRA Pro Stock, however in match racing, that was a different story. Dyno crashed the car in Darlington while match racing. The car repaired and then sold to Billy Takaki who owned AutoMastics in Honolulu Hawaii. He did rustproofing and detailing. He ran into financial trouble, and had to sell the car...to his friend Charlie. Charlie put the car on jack stands, and there it sat for close to 25 years, when it was found by Chauncey. He had made a deal with Charlie's wife, and bought the car, and everything that went with it. Now since no track in Oahu, Hawaii, to race they have to transport to Big Island to race. Way too expensive for that limited racing time. So Chauncey, contacted DragBoss Garage, as he is an avid watcher of the channel. He feels the car needs to come back to the mainland, and be put in Museum, or back on the track. Chauncey would like DragBoss Garage to have the car, get it safe, put a high port Cleveland in it, and put it back on the track. DragBoss Garage, along with the help of Mike Weaks, could make this a reality. Just have to come up with the money....Anybody want to contribute?
