Welcome to Day 3 of my 5 Days in Paris Birthday Trip series, where I take you along my journey as I explore this city and some Parisian neighbourhoods.

Today, I'm taking a day trip from Paris to the most beautiful town in France! In just a few hours you can explore the beautiful architecture and discover the many hidden treasures of the city. ♥

Colmar, Alsace Region, France

The fairytale french town of Colmar is located in the Alsace region of France and is only 2 hours by train from Paris. It lies on the west bank of the Ill River. It is an administrative center for Colmar County. The name of the city comes from the German word "Kol" which means "on the riverbank". The city is known for hosting the annual Internationally recognized Christmas market or "noel". The Christmas market attracts people from other parts of Europe.

Colmar is a charming, picturesque town of about 68,000 inhabitants in the Alsace region of France.

Located on the tip of the Colmar Peninsula, it features a large pedestrianfriendly center with a mixture of architectural styles that date from medieval to modern times.

I took a day trip to Colmar from Paris so you'll
be able to see the exact steps on what it takes to
spend a day in Colmar France from my perspective.

I reserved my return day ticket from Paris to Colmar for just 20 € as I had an @interraileu pass.

Boats leave from the foot of Saint Pierre bridge, next to Restuarant Le Caveau SaintPierre. Access by the Quai de la Poissonnerie or the Boulevard St Pierre.

They take small groups on a 25minute tour through Petit Venice and out to a leafy residential area.

Ticket price:
7€ (low season school holidays) / 8€ from 11 years old (high season school holidays).
4€ up to 10 years old. Free for children up to 3 years old.
Free for children (age limit) 10 years old

Address: 10 rue de la Herse, 68000 Colmar

The tour takes you around Petit Venice where Colmar’s merchants lived and transported their goods around by boat along the River Lauch. The story goes that different colours were used to display different types of businesses – so if you were a fisherman your house was painted blue, or a butcher would have a red house. And they’ve been perfectly preserved since.

✨ Fun fact: Colmar was apparently the inspiration for the village in the Disney film Beauty and the Beast!
