Day In The Life Of Wheat Harvest On Our Montana Farm 2020 | Kate's Ag Farm to Fashion

In this weeks video I talk about the process of farming. I show you the daily life of wheat harvest on our Montana farm. You will learn how a farm operation works. I speak about the moisture level of the wheat and why it is important to not put moist wheat in the grain bins. You will get to watch me dump in the grain cart on the go. I also take you along to check my grain tank to see how full it is. I am able to save a birds life by paying attention to my combine header. I explain the difference in the two kinds of wheat, winter wheat and spring wheat. I also explain why in Montana we plant different varieties of wheat. The two kinds of crops we primarily grow are wheat and barley. I discuss why farmers are so important and that not many people now how their food gets to their table. I talk about why it is so important to buy locally grown farm and ranch products as well as products made in the USA. I also let you know that I am developing a Kate's Ag Farm to Fashion product that is coming out in the fall. You are able to see a swather swathing a wheat field. I also show you the size difference of a semi truck and a tandem truck (which is smaller). You will get to hear different people in our operation talk on the radio. I hope you enjoy my video of a day in the life of wheat harvest on our Montana farm.

My Story...
Hello. My name is Kate Stephens and I am a 16yearold 4th generation farmer. My family has been farming wheat in north central Montana since my great grandfather immigrated from Denmark in 1912 and homesteaded our land. My family has been teaching me about farming since I was 2 years old. Until recently the wheat we grow has been taller than me. My grandfather is 93 and he is the best mentor ever. I run one of the combines on the farm at harvest. I believe that it is important for everyone to know where their food comes from and the families who produce it. I love our farm and I decided that the amazing photos I take at harvest of our wheat and barley could make fabulous, exciting designs for fashion and accessories. That is how Kate’s Ag – Farm to Fashion became a reality. I hope you love my handbag as much as I do because this is an extension of our farm and the grains we have been growing to feed other families for over one hundred years.
