David Buik MBE is a businessman and financial expert, in this unique interview Buik takes us through the highs and lows of his exceptional career.

Starting his working life in the City in 1962, by the age of 24 he had already set up three companies in moneybroking. The biggest event of his career was prime minister Margaret Thatcher and then chancellor of the exchequer Jeffrey How eliminating exchange controls, which led to an explosion in trade and signalled that London's financial district was "open for business".

Also during the Thatcher era, another fundamental change was earning power when taxes were cut from 83% to 40% in 1986.

David Buik finishes by comparing his career with young people starting out in 2018 and the difference in getting a job, getting into the City and even taking exams.
