Sound up to hear Darby the black and white colobus vocalizing! One of the most distinctive of all primates, the colobus’ dramatic coloration is a beautiful sight against the deep green background of their native habitat in the rainforests of central Africa. Given how territorial colobus monkeys are, their presence in a forest cannot be missed as their calls can be heard throughout the forest. Adult troop members produce loud, throaty calls to alert other troops to territorial boundaries or communicate other messages.
