CYO Camp has a deeprooted tradition of serving and inspiring our Bay Area Youth. The current site originally began in the 1930s as a 12acre wilderness camp for Bay Area Boy Scouts. This small parcel was then donated to the Archdiocese of San Francisco, allowing construction of the main lodge, kitchen, dining hall, and staff quarters.

By 1946, development was complete and CYO opened the summer camp to boys and girls of the Bay Area, eventually christening the camp "Our Lady of the Redwoods". Additional acreage was acquired throughout the 1950s and '60s, with a grand total of 216 gorgeous acres. 1969 heralded the beginning of one of the camp's most active periods, a time of intensive fundraising and development.

Further facilities were developed in the 1980s, including updated cabins, two swimming pools, an outdoor chapel, and a large recreational field. The Campaign for Children and Youth in 1989 initiated the planning process for a muchneeded camp renovation, with the primary intention to prepare the CYO facilities for future generations to come. In 2004, the merging of CYO with Catholic Charities broadened the business scope and unified the grand vision to provide yearround outdoor experiences for kids and retreat opportunities for community adult groups.
