Custom Saw Stand

Workshop Companion

A saw stand is one of the most useful tools in a woodshop. This is the shop assistant you never have to pay, the family member you never have to bother to hold up the other end of the board. And despite its name, it’s not just for use with table saws. It’s an invaluable accessory for you jointer, planer, router table, band saw, sander – virtually any stand alone power tool.

Nick shows you not just how to build a saw stand, but how to customize it for your specific woodworking needs. He shows how to figure the height range you need, adjust the height with precision, level the base, tilt the head, make interchangeable transfer devices, incorporate an auxiliary worksurface, even add weights to keep the saw stand where you want it.

And in case you're wondering, that torn rag the Bella drags around this video is the remains of a muchchewed "soft" Frisbee it's not Nick's hat, as one viewer quipped. If you folks will kindly buy enough books and plans, Nick can afford to buy Bella a new Frisbee. And a hat.
