Curator Dr Barnaby Wright (Deputy Head of The Courtauld Gallery and Daniel Katz Curator of 20th Century Art) takes an indepth look at The Griffin Catalyst Exhibition: Frank Auerbach. The Charcoal Heads.
This exhibition is the first time Frank Auerbach’s (born 1931) extraordinary postwar drawings, made in the 1950s and early 1960s, have been brought together as a comprehensive group. They are shown together with a selection of paintings he made of the same sitters. The exhibition is a unique opportunity to see early masterpieces by one of the world’s most celebrated living artists.
Tickets include entry to The Courtauld’s permanent collection, plus temporary displays From the Baroque to Today: New Acquisitions of Works on Paper, and Jasper Johns: The Seasons. Friends go free.
