Alison will discuss a research project which drew on critical discourse analysis to examine how a counternarrative emerging from the disabled people’s movement was adjusted and amended on its incorporation into government policy. She will set out the methods she used to examine naturally occurring texts, consider how counternarratives operate as forms of identity (re)construction, and explore the key principles of critical discourse analysis
