In the early 2000s, Microsoft published a slew of original, multimedia franchises to often mixed success. One of them was the video game adaption of FASA's alternate history tabletop game, Crimson Skies. The infusion of 1930s and dieselpunk aesthetic with fun arcade aerial combat still remains quite good albeit heldback through technical and mechanical fumbles and limitations that only illustrate the potential for something greater.
