Can you improve the efficiency of a 12v thermoelectric cooler with extra insulation and a W1209 digital thermostat?

This video is all about how I am setting up the cooler for my minivan camper.
I am using a 27 liter Koolatron thermoelectric cooler and I will be doing a few modifications to try to improve its energy usage, namely, adding insulation and a thermostat.
