If you need to clean, repair or replace any of the components in the head (or "drive") unit assembly, you’ll need to remove them from the conveyor.

You’ll need two people to do this job.

First remove the external scrapers and belt and remove the head drum assembly from the conveyor.

Watch our videos “How to change the belt on your Invader conveyor” (   • CONVEYOR MAINTENANCE : HOW TO CHANGE ...  ) and “How to remove the head unit assembly of your Invader conveyor” (   • CONVEYOR MAINTENANCE : HOW TO REMOVE ...  ) to see how to do this.

Loosen and remove the two grub screws on the top taperlock bush. Take one of the grub screws and screw it into the release hole until you hear a click, and the taperlock bush releases from the taperlock sprocket.

Repeat this process for the bottom taperlock bush. You will need to hold the drum in position with one hand while you do this.

To reassemble the head unit assembly, first put the two key steels back into the top and bottom shafts as shown. Make sure the key steels are pointing upwards so they don't fall out.

Assemble the top sprocket and bush making sure the three holes are lined up. Slide the sprocket and bush over the top shaft key steel making sure the sprocket and bush are pushed as far onto the shaft as they will go. Offer the chain onto the top sprocket.

Assemble the bottom sprocket and bush, lining up the three holes.
Offer the bottom sprocket and bush into the chain and slide the assembly onto the shaft key steel as far as it'll go. When both sprockets and bushes are in place, carefully replace the four grub screws.

Lastly, put the head unit assembly back into the conveyor. Watch our video “How to remove the head unit assembly of your Invader conveyor” (   • CONVEYOR MAINTENANCE : HOW TO REMOVE ...  ) to see how to do this.

Then replace the belt and external scrapers, and return the conveyor to it's upright position. Watch our video “How to change the belt on your Invader conveyor” (   • CONVEYOR MAINTENANCE : HOW TO CHANGE ...  ) to see how to do this.

Track and tension the belt. Watch our video "How to track and tension the belt on your Invader conveyor" to see how to do this:    • CONVEYOR MAINTENANCE : HOW TO TRACK A...

It is now ready to use.
