Contraction Practice This video begins by briefly reviewing the role of contractions when speaking and reading. It provides examples of analyzing a contraction to determine the two words an author would combine in order for the contraction to be formed, including “think aloud” and “wait time” to engage the student in his or her learning process. Contraction Practice also demonstrates how a contraction is formed from two words when writing. Video imagery and voiceover technology support these skills while providing an element of story, sometimes marked with humor, throughout the process. This video is recommended as a sequel to both videos, Introduction to Contractions and Understanding and Using Contractions.

I’ve created an entire series of teaching videos to explain the components of English Language
Arts in a way that connects them to each other and to real world reading, speaking, and writing. The links for the videos in order are below. Please look for my other videos and share them with others that may find them helpful.
