Discusses how everything that can be expressed in paint when painting from life, including the sitter’s personality or mood, requires the visual data like values and angles to be right in relation to each other just as it appears on the model when the sitter contains such matter.
QUESTION: How do you organize the high contrast spots with the psychological weight of the subject i.e. the weight of faces and (especially pointing) hands? I understand that we are thinking in abstract terms , but can we completely lose the subject/content without losing the expression and motivation of the image ? How do you deal with this? Thanks
