The Ford F150 Powerboost is the first true hybrid pickup truck on the market. A long time ago, there was the GMC Sierra Hybrid but it basically had a 48volt mildhybrid system. This F150 Powerboost is the real deal. But it no longer has the market to itself with Toyota introducing their first hybrid pickup truck, the Tundra iForce MAX.

The hybrid powertrain in this Ford F150 is only available with one engine; a 3.5L twinturbocharged V6. However, while it may not be a V8, the total system output is quite a bit at 430 hp and 570 lbft of torque (320 kW / 773 Nm).

On paper, the Tundra Hybrid’s powertrain is a little bit more powerful than that of the F150’s hybrid powertrain. The Tundra iForce MAX is motivated by a 3.5L twinturbocharged V6 that is aided by an electric motor which is in between the engine and transmission. Total output is 437 hp and 583 lbft of torque (326 kW & 790 Nm).
