In contrast, the Lengstroth Long hive is a longer and narrower box with horizontal frames. In this video, I'll go through the process of building the Lengstroth Long hive and explain why I ultimately prefer it over the traditional Lengstroth hive. We'll also talk about the importance of using foundationless frames, which allow bees to build their own natural comb without the use of plastic foundation.

As a bonus, we'll take a look at our neighbor's Lengstroth hive, which uses plastic foundation. We'll discuss the pros and cons of this approach and why we prefer to use foundationless frames in our own hive.
