Cold flat roof ventilation corrected

This is a followup video on how to fix problems with cold flat roof ventilation. Correcting ventilation in cold flat roofs isn't that easy if the flat roof, and the flat roof insulation and plasterboard, has already been installed. In this example, the customer was doing a selfbuild and asked for help on venting his cold flat roof.
The first video link above "Sweating and mouldy, new, cold flat roof" shows how he builds the cold roof and how he thought it shoud be vented. Unfortunately, he wasn't venting the flat roof correctly but hadn't covered up all the problems, so it was relatively easy to change the way he vented the roof. This is a workaround, as it would have been much easier to build the 'through' venting into the flat roof as it was being constructed. You will see we have used a combination of mushroom vents and drilling holes through joists, so that the airflow can cross from back to front and from side to side. We also made the roof airtight and added a good vapour control layer (VCL). We removed the downlights, as these would break through the airtightness of the VCL and the thermal element of the flat roof insulation.
Corrected cold flat roof ventilation is something that I'm asked to consult on two or three times a week, as builders and roofers just don't understand how to construct warm and cold flat roofs.
