Protests of 1989 in Beijing, also known as the Tiananmen Square protests or the June Fourth Incident, were a series of demonstrations led by students and intellectuals calling for political and economic reform in China. The protests lasted for several weeks, from April 15 to June 4, 1989, and were centered in Beijing's Tiananmen Square, a large public space in the heart of the city.
