Chinese Herbal Pantry - Shirley (TCM Practitioner)

A classic Chinese herbal sweet soup (tong sui) with snow fungus. It is a dairyfree, glutenfree and lowcalorie (as long as you don't add too much sugar!) recipe. It is supernutritious.

There are many variations of this recipe which may have different ingredients. I decided to select three main herbal ingredients that are commonly used for their functions in aiding and improving sleep quality. These three ingredients are Lotus Seeds (莲子), Lily Bulbs (百合) and Longan Fruits (桂圆/龙眼). Another ingredient used is a White fungus (also called Snow Fungus or Silver Ear Mushroom (雪耳/银耳) which is often added to this dessert. Snow Fungus has recently been gaining a lot of attention in the West for its antiaging effect. So, if you are interested in adding this to your diet, this is a good recipe to start.

RECIPE
40g Lotus Seeds 莲子
50g Lily Bulbs 百合
15g Longan Fruits 桂圆龙眼肉
A Quarter to Half Snow Fungus 银耳 雪耳
Rock sugar (to your liking) 冰糖
A handful of Goji Berries 枸杞子
3 Red Dates (remove the pits and cut into smaller pieces) 红枣
