Cherry Town Road is the story of a community that has chosen to define itself, even as Jim Crow, segregation, white supremacy, and now COVID19 have knocked at its back door. It is a deeply personal story for director Lydia Elrod, but it is also the story of resilience and a commitment to excellence that is common to so many Black families in the Southern United States.

In the words of James Baldwin: "History is not a procession of illustrious people. It's about what happens to a people. Millions of anonymous people is what history is about."
