Cheapest Way To Live In Los Angeles

The best way to cut down on your costs in LA is to find a cheap area to rent in apartment. While most of the neighborhoods in LA that you’ve actually heard of before are simply way too expensive to rent, at least without being a millionaire, there are quite a few neighborhoods that might not be too out of reach for the average person. Keep in mind, there are a lot of neighborhoods that are even cheaper than the ones we’re about to mention, but those are simply places that we can’t recommend you live in.

Transport will probably be your largest cost after housing, but unfortunately for LA, transport is an area where it absolutely sucks when compared to pretty much any major city on the planet that’s comparable in size. Cheap public transportation is extremely limited in LA. There is the Los Angeles Metro Rail, which has two subway lines and 4 light rail lines that cover an area of almost 100 miles. That may sound like a lot, but you have to remember that LA is extremely spread out and you have to be very lucky to live in an area that’s actually covered by the Metro, and let’s just say the service that this Metro gives you isn’t the best.

Cutting down on your grocery costs, even by a little, will go a long way in cutting down your costs. Earlier in the video, we mentioned how LA has some of the most expensive grocery prices in the country. That’s only partially true. The thing is, people in LA love going to these “exclusive” grocery stores instead of regular corner stores, and it has gotten to the point where these “boutique” grocery stores are starting to outnumber the regular ones. That’s why you need to make sure you always shop at a budget store. Support the momandpop shops, because you’ll always get a better deal there. Staying away from some of the big names will make sure you save a lot of money on groceries.
