Exotics in adult longhair class judging at the 2019 CFA International Cat Show held in Cleveland, Ohio, USA.
The judge is Darrell Newkirk.
Ah, my surprise, how to keep this short(ish) there's been a longstanding controversy since Exotics appeared in CFA. As I understand it they occurred when a breeder was trying to shorten the muzzle of British Shorthairs (probably called British Blues at that time). Using Persians for this, unsurprisingly, a shorthair Persian type cat was produced, appreciated, and thus bred for. A side effect was the longhair Exotic which was not showable at the time due to much objection from some Persian breeders/exhibitors. Eventually CFA did allow LHE to be shown, and in the Persian judging classes, no less though they were judged as Exotics.
The breed was originally called Exotic Shorthair in CFA, the Shorthair has since been dropped. Looking at the catalog I do not know if there still is a longhair designation seeing as none was given for the Shaded Golden (first cat here). So, dunno if they're still being shown with the Persians of if they're now shown with the Zots, and apparently undifferentiated as to longhair or shorthair (the distinction is typical amongst most breeds) thus my surprise.
