I know, I know. Holy sh*t! ... What!?!?

Some will be like “But, but, but, I have one and he’s the best pet!” Yes, we understand there are genetic anomalies out there. Like a Malinois that has no drive. We have seen the videos of the hiking Cattle Dog and the mountain bike Cattle Dog and even the wing suit Cattle Dog. We understand there are individual Cattle Dogs that are not “cattle herding” working dogs.

Back to the point. Cattle Dogs were bread by design to be 3545 lbs of forcible directors of the field, yet trainers and pet owners are doing everything to breed that unique skill, out of them. And, for what?! So they can have the “look” of a Cattle Dog without the biting, nipping, tugging, and unwavering drive that comes with it!?

A Cattle Dog (appropriately) is supposed to be just that... a cattle herding dog! When a 1,500 lb pissedoff bovine won’t move, the 35 lb bat out of hell, goes to work. They are bread to work. So, we need to let them work. And if that’s not what you want to do with your Cattle Dog... Well, you probably shouldn't get one. Rather, find a breed that doesn’t have a desire to bite, nip, and move your lazy a$$ around, as that is bread into every fiber of a Cattle Dog.

Before taking on any breed of dog, we highly recommend that you do your research and ensure that your lifestyle aligns with their intended needs. Work with their genetics!
