The weather was perfect, the sea was flat, and the Fall Chinook Salmon run was under way. We had to go fishing.We launched in Tillamook Bay just before noon, just after the turn of the tide from ebb to flood had smoothed the bar and eliminated smallboat restrictions. We crossed the bar inbound hours later, just before the flood changed to ebb and made the bar too rough for boats such as ours.The bay was crowded, but we had the ocean to ourselves. We saw only two other boats the entire afternoon. And we caught fish.
