A simple handmade puppet made by carving high density upholstery foam into a long hotdog shape is controlled using two wooden dowels. The puppet, which resembles a caterpillar or inchworm in movement, crawls across a table top. It stops in its tracks almost at the end of the table, backs up and sniffs the air. It finds the source of the smell to be toward the camera and comes in for a closer inspection. Upon sniffing the viewer the caterpillar puppet backs away and quickly continues to crawl off the table taking a final look back as it disappears out of frame
