Attorney Dan Krause discusses the question "Can you change a Power of Attorney?" The answer is "sometimes."
If the person who wants to change the Power of Attorney is the person who created the document, then yes they can change it, as long as they are still mentally competent. They can change, revoke or supersede the document at will.
When changing a POA, get back all copies of the old document if you can. Also, be careful to let all of your financial institutions know that you have changed your POA.
If the person who wants to change the POA is not the person who created the POA, then the answer is "No, you cannot change the document."
Often, people come to me and say "I am the POA agent for someone else. Can I give the power to another person?" The answer is "No."
