Tim Brown was the fastest car in qualifying and started from the pole but Burt Myers came out the winner of the Hayes Jewelers 200 season opening Modified Race at Bowman Gray Stadium on 42223. This was an action packed race with a lot of cautions and some good battles trying to get the lead from Tim Brown. Danny Bohn gave Brown a shot around turns 1 and 2 and Brown gave Bohn the same bumper tag going into 3. Myers pounced, passing the two and never looking back.
