Mad scientist at it again I have a old dehumidifier that I duct into my clothes dryer and covert it to a heat pump dryer. The hardest part was the control system and getting the compressor to stay running. It ended up working pretty well so far although it definately takes twice as long to dry a load. Still using less energy though because at most it's 1000 watts instead of 5000.
