Making some really great progress on the small cabin now with more interior construction finishes. First we mill the boards with our HD36 Norwood portable sawmill out of ash trees which were affected by the emerald ash borer.

After letting the fresh milled wood sit and dry, we move on the the wall coverings including the vapor barrier and drywall. Drywall might seem like an odd covering for an off grid cabin in the woods, but it will do a lot for what we need such as boasting the thermal mass. We didn't want all the walls to be made out of wood because then it would look like a wood box, rather than something appealing to the eye.

We use a chainsaw to cut down the rest of the big cherry tree so that we can turn it into some kind of furniture for the cabin, maybe a table or some cabinets we'll see! As always we use the tractor which is a great homesteading tool.
