Broadcaster Microphone Comparison SteelSeries Alias

PC Hocası TV

Yes, today I am reviewing SteelSeries' newly released Alias microphone series for you.

It is basically a product offered for its target audience of game publishers and live podcasters. It has 2 different models. We will also talk about the differences between these two microphones in our Alias and Alias Pro video.

The external physical features of both models are similar to each other. The thing that caught my attention the most is that the part of the microphone that faces you is flat, while the part that the user sees is designed as round, a wellthoughtout detail.

Alias' wired model;
• Type Condenser
• 1 25 mm ClearCast capsule microphone
• Connectivity USBC (Plug and Play)
• Polar Pattern Cardioid
• Resolution/Sampling Rate 24 bit/48 KHz
• Frequency response 50 Hz 20 KHz
• Maximum SPL 120 dB
• RGB Lighting
• Dimensions W 110 x D 130 x H 230 mm (Stand mounted)
• Weight750g (with stand) / 205g (without stand)

If you ask, what are the differences in Alias Pro other than the plain model above?

First of all, the Pro model is an XLR amplifier with XLR connection, not USB, connects to the PC via USB and has customizable controls and RGB. And another part that will change your purchasing choice is that the pro model can be connected to two PCs. If a seriously professional job is to be done and there will be a need for double connection, this part definitely needs to be paid attention to.
Again, one of the biggest differences comes in the Stream Mixer pro model. As you can see, the right dial and the right button are fully mappable, so you can quickly switch between music or streaming.
The working principle of Pro works with XLR Mixer, Sonar software, 1 XLR and 2 USBC cables.
Both microphones use Steelseries' noisecancelling 25 mm ClearCast capsule microphone.

In the Pro model, RGB lighting is on the mixer. The flat model has bottom illumination on the microphone itself and RGB illumination in the middle. Frankly, I liked the flat model better in terms of lighting.

Both microphones can be controlled via SteelSeries' own software, Sonar. It's also very simple to finetune. It's like people who will definitely buy these microphones have to use Sonar.

A dark gray metal circular table stand was used to hold the microphone. This stand is also adjustable.

Both microphones are boom arm compatible.

Since the Pro model is an XLR microphone, it appeals to real professional broadcasters, but its price is also the same. The Pro model is currently on sale for 16 thousand TL. The USB connected model has a price tag of 8 thousand TL. The product is a little expensive compared to its competitors in this segment, but it is not a product that will make you regret buying it.
