With no world championship races on, riders like Jack Chambers, Billy Askew and Cas Valk joined the MX2 regulars Tommy Searle, Dylan Walsh, Jake Nicholls, Taylor Hammal, Joel Rizzi, Eliott BanksBrowne, Steven Clarke and Charlie Heyman at the seasonopening British round at wet Lyng.
Dutch sand specialist Valk took the overall with a second then a win after blitzing qualifying. In the opener, American GP ace Chambers took a starttofinish win while Valk hit problems. He was second then crashed and then stalled the bike. He said it took around 20 seconds to get it started, and he made a charge through to second. Searle took third after stealing the place from Nicholls on the penultimate corner. Nicholls had been second with two laps to go until Valk and then Searle came by.
Walsh took fifth from Rizzi, Hammal and Heyman while Askew, Clarke, Joe Brookes and BanksBrowne all failed to get to the finish in the tough conditions.
In the second race Valk took a couple of laps to demote Rizzi and Heyman at the front of the pack. While Heyman went out, Rizzi held on for second from Chambers, Searle, Brookes, Walsh and Ben Mustoe. That gave Valk the overall win from Chambers and Searle in a gruelling day of racing.
