Watch as Christa Westbrook creates a largescale piece consisting of pinwheel shapes with layers of transparent and opaque colors, using a technique called veil cane.
The pinwheel pattern symbolizes community and unity and, for Westbrook’s Native American family history, a part of the past and future. Each piece of cane represents an individual in the community that, once grouped, works together as a whole.

In our live demo series, Bring the Heat, join us for a live stream of glass artists demonstrating their expertise and skillful execution while “in the zone.”
During each demo, an artist will present a personal design they’ve worked to perfect, and they will be live on the mic to narrate as they work—a rarity for live artist demonstrations and a first at the Museum.
