Today, Minister Marc Miller held a media availability addressing new rules governing offcampus working hours for international students in Canada.

The Minister held a media scrum at 1 p.m. EDT (Toronto time) at the Foyer of the House of Commons of Canada.

Minister Miller announces increasing offcampus working hours for international students while class is in session from 20 to 24 hours beginning in September 2024.

The existing temporary fulltime work policy will not be extended after April 30, 2024.

The work hours limit will be reduced to 20 hours per week until September, when the government can make a permanent amendment to make it 24 hours.

There are no restrictions on the number of hours that overseas students can work during the summer and winter breaks.
