He speaks about the skepticism by society, suspicion by the corporate world, and cliche expectations on what a sabbatical should be like. Furthermore, he advised taking into account the money, responsibilities, and opinions of family and society. After rumination, he addressed key concern areas before taking a sabbatical like employability, justification of a sabbatical to the corporate world, and planning a comeback. He shared his strategy on how to develop a master schedule with sections consisting of mustdos, good to do, and brilliant to do. He talked about the slight discomfort he felt on the 1st day of his sabbatical. In one year, he traveled to 3 countries, became a scuba diver, lost weight, and prioritised his family. After the sabbatical, he landed a better role, higher pay, and most importantly focused on his family and health. Alok Kohli is the Sr Director Franchise for PepsiCo managing India, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
Prior to Pepsico ,he was the Business Director for the B2C business at DSM. In that role, he was
responsible for launching and growing the MANDI business in India. He has worked with
organizations like CocaCola India Pvt. Ltd. and Marico Ltd. In the past.
Alok has a successful track record of driving consistent growth in FMCG and has managed both
Country and Regional business roles. He brings indepth experience across General
Management, Sales, Marketing, Commercial, Supply Chain and Route to Market Strategy. He
has rich experiences like navigating the CocaCola Nepal business through the earthquake
crisis.
Born in India, Alok graduated from Shriram College of Commerce, New Delhi and has a Master’s
degree in Marketing from NMIMS, Mumbai. He is married with 2 children and enjoys travelling.
