I attended my Uncle’s wedding on Saturday in the village of Moshupa, it was a traditional wedding.

A traditional wedding is where there is Patlo( Asking for hand in marriage), usually the groom’s family meet the bride’s family and ask for their daughter’ s hand in marriage. Then there is what is called Magadi(LOBOLA) which is Bride’s price. The groom’s family pays that price.

After all the above meetings the ladies who went for negotiations and all sing and dance in celebration of the the new daughter they have gained. So in Moshupa there is a process where the couple appear before the chief for counseling and all.

The dress code is suppose to be German print skirts or dresses and for married women they put on a tshale ( which is a blank) .

Obviously there is no celebration without food and drinks.
