Philadelphia Supercross provided us with great racing and great battles. One of the best headline stories from the weekend in my opinion is Seth Hammaker's return and performance. After missing last weekend's race in Nashville due to a shoulder injury, he returned for his home race in Pennsylvania with all of his family and friends watching. I thought it was really cool to see him get a heat race win infront of his 91 year old grandfather. That's a cool thing to see, his grandfather's first time watching him do a pro race and he gets that heat win. On the other hand, Factory Triumph Racing rider Jalek Swoll also had a heck of a night, earning his first heat race win as well. This setup a great battle for the main. Hammaker started out front but lost the lead to the Brit, Firepower Honda's Max Anstie roughly halfway through the main. Now a battle between Pennsylvania native Seth Hammaker, and Factory Triumph rider Jalek Swoll ensued. They battled until about 30 seconds to go when they collided. Knocking Hammaker and Swoll from 2nd and 3rd to about 7th and 8th place. I think had Swoll held back a bit and not pushed the envelope on that pass he would have gotten Hammaker in the next lap or so and they would have both gotten podium positions. His pass attempt was just way too aggressive. Idk what he was thinking because he clearly didn't have control of the corner and there was no way Hammaker would have known that Swoll was jumping to the inside line, so there’s no chance he would have locked up the brakes to prevent it. It was simply a bad pass attempt by jalek that ruined the night. Dont get me wrong, I think Jalek is an awesome race and a great guy, I just hate to see both him and Hammaker lose out on the podium do to this crash…
