An Ashville Village Council member and longtime Republican consultant resigned from Bernie Moreno's Senate campaign after he clashed with police during a traffic stop involving his girlfriend, another Moreno staffer.

Colton Henson served as a political adviser for Moreno, who's running against Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown in one of the country's most competitive U.S. Senate races. His decision to step down came after the Scioto Valley Guardian − an outlet run by former longshot congressional candidate Derek Myers − published a report about the incident, which took place over Labor Day weekend.

Henson was a passenger when his girlfriend and a finance assistant for Moreno’s campaign, failed to properly stop at a stop sign, according to an incident report and body camera video obtained by the USA TODAY Network Ohio Bureau. The footage shows Henson confronting police, at one point telling an officer to "f off."

As of this publication, Henson is still listed as a member of the Ashville Village Council on its website.
