   • How To: BMW e39 M5 Wheel carrier rebu...   Replacing the rear wheel bearings 2 years ago.

My friend comes over one day with some 10mm spacers that he offers to me for free and I'm dying to install them on the rear of my 2001 BMW e39 M5 to get that perfect stance. In my excitement to get the spacers installed I come across an unexpected problem the right rear wheel bearing appears to be bad. Already.
I completely rebuilt my e39 M5 about two years ago in 2022. That rebuild included all new suspension components as well as new wheel bearings. How could I have a wheel bearing that had already gone bad? Investigation reveals that the bearing is, in fact, bad and needs to be removed and replaced. Luckily, I purchased the FAG wheel bearing from FCP Euro and I was able to take advantage of their lifetime guarantee. They shipped me a new wheel bearing (that I had to purchase and return the bad wheel bearing to get instore credit) and within a week I was back on the road. And on the road with 10mm spacers in the rear and 20 mm spacers on the front for a perfect stance.
