We ended up making it to the Grand Design Service campground and got into the local GMC dealer for a diagnostic. It was exactly what the code reader said: a bad EGR Bypass Valve which was super frustrating to hear considering we had just replaced that same part less than a year ago.

We learned a very valuable lesson during this whole process we should have had the work done last summer to replace the valve at a GMC dealer and not the local shop we have always used in Maine. If you are living stationary, going to the place you know and trust is best, but if you are fulltime RVing, take it to the dealership, as not only will they cover a bad part that goes out before warranty, but they will also cover their labor for 2 years (GMC specifically).

So even though the part was covered, the labor which is 4 times the cost of the part is on us. Bummer. The good news is that we had a sweet ride as a loaner!

BIG NEWS!!! We came to Elkhart to do some yearly maintenance to the RV with Grand Design and Lippert and for some meetings with both of our partners! We are currently working on a really big project designing a new RV with somethings we have never seen before and can’t wait to bring you guys along with us on the journey!

We head out to visit some friends and stay on their property, and we give some of our advice for what you should do in preperation for staying with friends or family with your RV. Communication before hand is key!
