Best way to feed your dogs | B.A.R.F.

We've all heard the phrase "they eat better than I do." In this case, it's 100% true
After hearing some horror stories about commercial dog foods, and doing thorough research, a decision was made to start transitioning the dogs to a healthier diet. What is the best way to feed your dogs? With all the studies on feeding animals a raw food diet, I had to look into it....

Seeing as large dogs, like Blaise and Titus, typically eat a few pounds of food per day, a completely raw diet can get very pricey.
A reasonable alternative was the b.a.r.f. diet. Biologically appropriate raw foods, or bones and raw food.
The cost is still fairly high when compared to a commercial food diet that most pet owners are accustomed to paying for. Still, with the fact that animals can live up to 25% longer on a raw diet, and overall health should greatly improve, it is worth looking into.
So how about a compromise...

After much research, we decided that we would try a hybrid program; cutting out more than half of the commercial kibble (Victor HiPro plus) which is supposed to be a decent food, and replacing it with raw meats, meaty bones, jasmine rice/raw oats, supplements, and fruits/vegetables.
After seven months of this diet, the results are quite impressive!

There has been an improvement in mood, energy, skin, fur, anxiety. Not only that but the dogs eat less, probably due to the fact that their bodies are more easily absorbing the nutrients...which leads to way less poop in the yard! From 3 or 4 landmines laid per day to, now, only 1, or sometimes 2.

The cost is still significantly higher than only purchasing commercial food but to have healthy happy dogs is worth the extra cost.
**If you're interested in switching your animals' diet, I suggest doing some research. This video is not a guide... It is an example.
I can suggest a few things and tell you what our dogs are getting.
Join a wholesale club to buy in bulk.
Make sure your dogs are getting what they need. Example: Foods that are grainfree are also very low in taurine. Supplement as needed.
Raw meats: Pork, Lean beef, liver, chicken chicken, chicken! If you want to get fancy, look into lamb and other "exotic" type meats. MOST fish is ok but look into it! Treats aside...NO SHRIMP(high in cholesterol). NO SALMON(too fatty). Do your research!
Bone meats Raw only. NEVER COOKED BONES(they splinter)! chicken breasts, chicken legs/wings. My dogs love chicken feet and gizzards, and they are both cheap! Great for snacks and mixing in meals.
Turkey necks and ox tails are good.
Healthy Grains: Raw rolled oats. Jasmine rice
Fruits/veggies: Look into this! Many fruits and veggies are fine but there are a couple that are dangerous! Never grapes. Never onions. Many others so Do Your Research!
Supplements my dogs take(for reference only) Omega369 capsule. 10in1 multivitamin.

Do your research first! Details might be different depending on breed and size but if you love your furkids, it is worth it.
