Once you get out of making bowls and cups, you will start to make larger or even super flat things that will be hard to take OFF the wheel head without morphing them. because of this you will probably need a throwing bat. there are many different types of throwing bats but most need bat pinns.
a Throwing bat is just something that attached to the week for easy removal after you are done throwing whatever you like :).
