Beauty and the Beast Musical Story for Preschoolers I Bedtime Story I Fairy Tales I The Teolets

You are watching "Beauty and the Beast", an animated musical fairy tale recreated by The Teolets. This story teaches us that it is never wise to judge a book based on it's cover and that patience and love will reveal one's innate goodness.

Did you know that ''Beauty and the Beast'' is a fairy tale, which is a type of traditional literature? That means it probably started off being told by word of mouth instead of being written down, and it has been changed and retold many times by now. Fairy tales often have a good and an evil character, magical elements, royal characters, and characters who are very poor. This a fairy tale written by French novelist GabrielleSuzanne Barbot de Villeneuve and published in 1740. The fairy tale was influenced by Ancient Greek stories such as "Cupid and Psyche", written by Lucius Apuleius Madaurensis in the 2nd century AD, and The Pig King, an Italian fairytale published by Giovanni Francesco Straparola in around 1550. No wonder it is called a tale as old as time...

Once upon a time there was a young girl who lived with her father in a far off town. Fond of her books, Beauty is indeed different from the other people in their neighbourhood. One day her father has to go to another town for some work. He gets lost in the stormy night and seeks shelter in a castle lost deep in the woods. His mysterious caretaker provides him food and shelter, however on the next day as he is leaving, he plucks a white rose from the garden and invites the wrath of the Beast. He is imprisoned. Beauty searches for him and reaches the castle. She pleads for her father's freedom and agrees to take his place at the castle.
Over a period of time, the Beast tries to befriend her, but Beauty pines for her father. She is allowed to visit her father using some magical devices, however forgets all about the Beast who is waiting for her in the castle. She reaches in a frenzy, almost a little too late as the Beast is about to die. She realises her love for the monster who has taken such good care of her. Her acceptance of her love releases the Beast from a lifelong spell and he transforms into a Prince. Together they start on a beautiful journey as the castle returns to it's former glory and it becomes a happy ending for everyone.

This tale teaches many lessons to children. It shows us that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Beauty is skin deep and one's goodness which is a reflection of one's true character, is much more attractive than cosmetic appearances. The moral of Beauty and the Beast is that we should value inward characteristics such as kindness over other superficial qualities, such as wit and appearance. This moral is presented by showing that Beauty valued the inward characteristics of Beast, and fell in love with him despite his outward appearances.
