Bear Fights Off Bee Stings in Quest for Honey
A hungry bear was confronted by angry bees when it tipped over a beehive in the backyard of a home in Somers, Connecticut, on October 2.
Speaking to the Connecticut Post, homeowner Michael Bushior, who captured the moment on a CCTV camera, said the bear had previously tried to get into the beehives at around 10.30 pm but he managed to shoo it away.
The bear returned around half an hour later and redoubled his efforts. Bushior’s footage shows the bear tipping over one hive and letting bees loose.
“He tore the screen bottom off the hive. The bees were already riled up from the visit a halfhour earlier when he knocked the hive over,” Bushior told the Connecticut Post.
The bear had fled the scene by the time Bushior went out to chase it away.
