Here’s what we consider the “Essentials” for our life on the road. Living in an SUV means compromising for space & since we live on a budget, cost too! Truly, the essentials are food, water, & basic shelter, but we’ve also added a few essential "luxuries".

If you’ve been following our journey, you realize that our two biggest limiting factors are space & money. We do everything on a reasonable budget so that we can stretch out our adventures as far as possible without having to work long hours in jobs we don’t like. We also made do with our existing Ford Escape, customizing it into the “Great Escape” – an adventure vehicle that’s been getting us up mountains & along thousands of miles of adventures.

We have mostly worked with items we already owned, so we highly recommend that if you’re also on a budget you think about how you can modify your existing items to get you started. Mostly – don’t wait – get out there! We hope this list helps you get there. See you on the open road.
