The practice of posthumous baptism, often called “baptism for the dead,” is a ritual unique to the theology of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. As Christians, we affirm the importance of baptism in the life of faith.

As evangelical Christians, we have theological differences with these beliefs. We do not find biblical evidence for baptism being required for the dead or the efficacy of posthumous sacraments.
